SBIRT Colorado
SBIRT COLORADO COMMUNITY INFORMATION
SBIRT Colorado offers support for all Coloradans concerned about their health.
• Alcohol and other drug use—at any level—affects a person’s health and general well-being.
• Universal screenings serve as a powerful education tool for those who use alcohol and drugs.
• Research proves that screening can motivate people to change their habits.
• Early intervention can reduce risky alcohol and other drug use before it leads to addiction.
• The benefits of this program extend well beyond the user—to the person’s family and employer, to law enforcement and to the healthcare industry.

SBIRT COLORADO SITES
The five-year federal grant that funded SBIRT Colorado concluded on September 14, 2011. During the five years, Health Educators conducted screenings at twelve clinics and hospitals in nine Colorado counties: Arapahoe, Denver, Eagle, El Paso, Gunnison, Larimer, Mesa, Prowers, Summit and Weld counties. SBIRT Colorado also collaborated with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, utilizing Ryan White Part B funding to expand SBIRT to clinics and AIDS Service Organizations that serve people living with HIV.
